Abstract
SMP Negeri 26 Gresik is one of the secondary schools in Gresik Regency, which implements the Adiwiyata program in forming environmentally caring characters in students and school residents. The Adiwiyata program is a basic program to instill the character of caring for the environment and loving the environment so as not to damage and always protect the living environment and place of residence. The formation of an environmentally caring character is implemented based on management that has been designed and mature so that it can achieve the agreed goals.
The research uses qualitative methods using data collection techniques using interview, observation and documentation methods. Meanwhile, the data analysis technique used in this research is descriptive analysis, through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and data verification.
This research shows that the curriculum of the Adiwiyata program in forming environmentally caring character at SMP Negeri 26 Gresik is environmentally friendly school policies, environmentally based curriculum, development of participatory-based activities and school support facilities to create environmentally friendly education.
Meanwhile, the management of the Adiwiyata program at SMP Negeri 26 Gresik consists of 4 stages, namely planning the Adiwiyata program by forming a school Adiwiyata team, organizing which examines the strategies and tactics in preparing the Adiwiyata program adjusted to the conditions in the school, then directing and implementing it to form character. caring for the environment, finally directing and controlling students so that they get used to implementing the character of caring for the environment.
