Abstract
The problem of this research is that some teachers do not show good performance in carrying out their duties and functions. This means that these teachers fulfill the main duties and functions of teachers as follows: Carrying out activities, evaluations, carrying out daily tests, compiling and implementing improvement and enrichment programs, and implementing development in the assigned educational field. As an illustration of the profile of teachers whose performance is still low, these include: teachers teaching monotonously and without thorough preparation. Teachers still use very basic learning preparation, do not utilize the necessary curriculum references, and do not consistently apply the lesson plan (RPP) scenarios that have been prepared. In the learning process, teachers still mostly use the lecture method.
The objectives are (1) to determine the influence of the principal's leadership on teacher performance; (2) determine the effect of teacher motivation on teacher performance; and (3) to determine the influence of the principal's leadership and teacher motivation on the teacher performance of Muara Kelingi State Elementary School 2 teachers.
Researchers use quantitative descriptive methods because the research is carried out through analysis of numerical data (numbers). Meanwhile, the sampling technique uses Cluster sampling (Area Sampling). The population of this study consisted of all 22 teachers at SD Negeri 2 Muara Keringi and a sample of 18 teachers was identified using purposive sampling techniques. The data collection method used was a questionnaire.
From the research results, it can be seen from the hypothesis testing that: (1) there is a positive and significant influence of principal leadership on teacher performance by 22.%, (2) there is a positive and significant influence of teacher motivation on teacher performance by 17.2%, ( 3) there is a positive and significant influence of the principal's leadership and teacher motivation on teacher performance by 29%. This positive influence means that the principal's leadership and teacher motivation have an influence on performance, this will improve teacher performance.
