Abstract
Leadership is an important part of an institution, a leader is a person who directs his subordinates to achieve the planned goals and vision and mission, is able to identify changes in the times, environment, and technology, is able to transform a plan into reality, and provides motivation and inspiration, individual care and loyalty, and has a creative and innovative spirit. This is what is applied by the principal of SMK PGRI Sooko regarding his leadership which includes his discipline in leading, innovative in accordance with the times, and very much following the times. While teachers become an active role that supports the running of the work program activities set, here the performance of teachers is needed in quality, quantity, and competence to support the implementation of a vision-mission that is prepared to be effective and efficient.
This study aims to determine the Principal's Transformational Leadership in improving teacher performance at SMK PGRI Sooko Mojokerto, in order to become a reference and assessment material to be able to determine the extent to which the principal applies his leadership to improve the performance of qualified teachers. The results of this study found that the principal of SMK PGRI Sooko has tried to improve teacher performance quite well even though there are some things that are not perfect.
In this study the authors used data reduction, data presentation, and were taken through observation, interviews, and documentation used as a complement to determine the principal's leadership and teacher performance at SMK PGRI Sooko.
The results of this study indicate that the transformational leadership of the principal in improving teacher performance at SMK PGRI Sooko has a good influence on the performance and quality of the institution, able to be a role model for subordinates and carry out tasks well. There are several things that make this happen, because the application of the school principal is realized directly and tangibly, but there are inhibiting factors, namely less quality time
