Abstract

The ability to read Arabic is one of the skills that must be mastered by students, especially in learning Arabic, therefore the researcher raised the case through a thesis entitled Correlation of Ability to Memorize the Al-Quran in Improving Arabic Reading Skills for Class IX Students at Islamic Junior High School Of Amanatul Qur'an Mojokerto. The purpose of this study was to find out how the ability to memorize the Al-Qur'an, the ability to read Arabic and how the correlation between the ability to memorize the Al-Qur'an in improving Arabic reading skills of class IX students at Islamic Junior High School Of Amanatul Qur'an Mojokerto. This study uses quantitative research methods using a correlational approach, by collecting data using tests, observations, interviews. While the data analysis technique uses quantitative analysis with a simple linear regression equation and t test to get a significant value.
The results showed that the ability to memorize the Al-Qur'an was 13.77 with a value above the average of 15 students or 68.1% as evidenced by tests of the ability to memorize the Al-Quran from 22 class IX students and Arabic reading scores obtained 15.73 with scores above the average of 13 students or 59.02% as evidenced by the Arabic skills test of 22 class IX students at Islamic Junior High School Of Amanatul Qur'an Mojokerto. There is a correlation of ability to memorize the Qur'an in improving students' reading skills. The correlation value is obtained by testing the hypothesis H0 is rejected and Ha is accepted with a correlation value nr > rtable 0.559 > 0.423 with a significance of 5%. This is proven based on the results of a simple linear regression test with a value of Y = 2.053 + 0.993X and the value of the t test = tcount > ttable or 3.018 > 0.686954 so that it can be concluded that the ability to memorize the Qur'an (X) has an effect on the reading skills variable (Y). thus it can be concluded that the correlation of the ability to memorize the Qur'an has a fairly good correlation in improving the Arabic reading skills of class IX students at Islamic Junior High School Of Amanatul Qur'an Mojokerto.
